 KAREN PALFREYMAN

Professional Background:  Karen Palfreyman retired from Davidson Texas, Inc. in 1988 after a 15 year career in various fields of accounting.   In her last position, she was Corporate Controller.  Previously she had five years with Katy Independent School District as Chief Accountant. Prior to taking time away from her career she spent five years with IBM as systems analyst. Karen holds a BA degree in Business with a major in Accounting from the University of Washington. Karen lived in Houston since 1971. In addition to volunteering at ESCH, Karen has been active in her church on the Finance Committee, public school volunteer and has taught a Bible study for twelve years.

 

ESCH Experience:  Karen joined ESCH in 1989 and since then has helped more than 20 nonprofits through training and/or management consultation services. She also serves on the Board of Trustees for ESCH as its Treasurer. Some of her recent clients and projects include:

 

  • Freedman’s Town, an organization that provides requested Community services and development to the Fourth Ward needed accounting procedures and a five year business plan.  Westheimer Social Ministries needed accounting procedures for its retail store.  Houston Read Commission needed help with office procedures. 
  • Karen also teaches a seminar on accounting.
