GICF is seeking child sponsorships and general contributions to fund Lulwanda Children's Home operations, projects and future expansions. Your generous support will help GICF assist the children of AIDS-stricken East Africa.
Operating Costs:
GICF needs to raise funds to cover ongoing operating costs at Lulwanda Children's Home, as it continues to grow. Your donations will ensure that we can provide a loving home and excellent care to the 90 children presently at Lulwanda.
Projects:
In addition, Lulwanda has several projects which we intend to complete in 2010. A donation designated for one of these projects (or a portion of one of these projects) would make a huge improvement to the long term future of Lulwanda:
- Purchase and install a solar powered pump in the water well, allowing utilization of this inexpensive water source in the LCH system ($6,000).
- Purchase solar panels to eliminate dependence on the national electrical grid and reduce electricity bills. Total cost is $24,000 half of which has already been donated.
- Build a simple house at our 10 acres of farmland, providing a home for a local farmer who will be hired soon to grow corn, rice and other food crops for Lulwanda ($10,500).
- Build 2 "hostels" to house 20 boys and 20 girls. This will allow us to expand from the current 90 children to a total of 130. The cost for the two buildings is estimated at $120,000.
You may donate by mailing us a check (see Contact Us for address) or donate online using a secure server.
Funds given to GICF will be directly used to benefit the children through the operation of LCH, as GICF has no paid staff outside of Uganda. Approximately 98% of GICF funding goes to Lulwanda, and about 2% to administration and fundraising expenses in the USA. All donations are tax deductible in the USA and tax receipts are issued annually.
