RAJ MASHRUWALA

Professional Background:  Raj Mashruwala retired from Lyondell Chemical Co. in 2003 after a 29 year career, spanning refining, petrochemicals, polymers and propylene oxide and derivatives.   He began his career with Lyondell’s predecessor company, ARCO at their Houston refinery as process engineer and then moved through Plant Optimization, Major Projects Coordination, Profit Planning & Analysis, Marketing and Planning.   In his last position, he was Director of Corporate Strategic Planning.  In this position he coordinated the development of Lyondell’s long term portfolio strategy and strategies of its ll business units.   Raj holds Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.  He has lived in Houston, on and off since 1974. In addition to volunteering at ESCH, Raj volunteers with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).

ESCH Experience:  Raj joined ESCH in 2005 and since then has helped more than four nonprofits through training and/or management consultation services. He also serves on the Consultant Relations, Marketing, and Training committees for ESCH.  Some of his recent clients and projects include:

  • Weather Research Center, an organization that provides weather education to students and gets them interested in science and math requested planning support.  Ted Havely and I helped them develop a strategic plan and a stronger board governance.
  • Refugee Alliance provides support to newly arrived refugees.  In response to their request, reviewed their “micro lending” plan.

Breath of Life Foundation is an organization that provides free medical help to children with no insurance.  In response to their request, Ed Hang and I reviewed their fundraising and organizational plans and suggested changes.
