The Good Neighbor project
The end of month fellowship was postponed to 1st December to coincide with the third birthday for the opening of the home to the children. The children will come with their parents for lunch and they will be given the hygiene kit. We hope that even the President of GICF board Mr. Rob Marshall will endure the jetlag to be around.
Garden Work
The dry season seems to have set in, and much of our garden had been prepared in anticipation for rains but they never came. We have a small patch of cabbages and greens which we have been irrigating. The animals (chickens, turkeys, many goats and 3 cows) are improving and increasing in number. We need to improve the poultry farming to make it more valuable and useful to the home.
Maintenance work
We continue to make all the effort to ensure that the facility remains functional and in good form for the enjoyment of all of us. Even we continue to train the children to be responsible in handling the home resources. We have made effort to replace those which have broken. However, this month we experienced some problems with the power supply and had to overhaul the service cabling and allocate different meters for different facilities on the compound.
Staff Focus of the month of November: Julius Wamboga;
Praise the Lord, My name is Julius, Am married and have 8 children who are all in school for which I thank God. I got saved in 2001 at Mbale Presbyterian Church and my wife got saved in 2002. Since then we have seen God's providence and He has uplifted us to where we now. I thank God for the work he has given me at Lulwanda Children's Home as a Gardener, through which I am now able to take reasonably good care of my family. I with my colleagues at work are blessed for the responsibility that God has given us of bringing up these children in His through showing them good manners, and to love them. I do thank you all for the support that you have continued to offer us and I pledge continued commitment for the good of the children under our care. Praise Him
Child focus of the month of November: Naula Sefuleza (Rhoda)
is 7 years old, born in Buseta village, Pallisa District. She is a total orphan who lost both parents due to HIV/AIDS thus leaving her under the care of her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Veronica Kayendeke. As a peasant living on a very small patch of land that is no longer productive and caring for 12 orphans, it was difficult for Mrs. Kayendeke to sustainably look after such huge family of young and desperate children some of whom were HIV/AIDS positive. Like the rest of the children under her care, she did not have enough to provide for Naula and therefore she was referred to LCH for care and support.
Emerging issues
I am humbled to report that, Colorado Spring Church donated funds that have enabled us to purchase an Isuzu truck to be used to transport the food and other supplies for the children's home. Brethrens thank you for your thoughtfulness and a wonderful gift that you have given the children of Uganda. We continue to pray for you all, that God may continue to bless you and use you in His ministry for the glory of His name.
We need your support to start up our poultry farm so that when you come in summer we may have some eggs and chicken to share with you right from the farm on the children's home.
As we start the new third year, we look forward to your continued support. However, as we grow we need to start focusing on developing things that in the long run will qualitatively contribute to the wellbeing of the children at home so that this work may become self sustaining in its fifth year of existence. This is my appeal and our desire as people at the home.
God's rich blessing as you continue to support us.
