December 1, 2007 was the third year anniversary of the existence of LCH and its mandatory that celebration be made to remember how far God has brought us up to these three years. The TGN fellowship program the last Saturday of the month for November was postponed to correspond with our third anniversary. As you have come to realize, LCH is not only an individual home for orphaned children but also teaches the children to share with the community in which we dwell and are part of. Therefore it was thought that it should be a combined celebration for everyone both of LCH and TGN project. Invitations were even extended to the parents of TGN children this time around.
Arrival of the children
The TGN program started at 9:00am as usual even though the anniversary celebration wasn't scheduled until 1:00pm. The children were welcomed by Betty and the LCH children. Betty briefed them about the programme of the day and opened the day's activities with prayer.
Breakfast
After the prayer, the children were settled down for breakfast. Oatmeal was served to all the 115 children. This time every LCH child whether small or big had to serve a friend. Trouble came that, who was to serve the recent 25 children of LCH (they hadn't been paired with a friend in the community)? They kept looking at themselves until the older new children took on the lead to serve the younger new children.
Arrival of the invited guests
After breakfast both LCH and TGN children prepared presentations to be made during the ceremony. No sooner had the children completed their practices, than the parents and other visitors arrived. They were warmly welcomed and encouraged to feel at home. They were entertained by the LCH children through praise songs until everyone had arrived.
Lunch
When a large number of the guests arrived lunch was served. Food and sodas was served concurrently to the visitors and thereafter the children. There was some time consumed and the children were hungry but patiently waited.
Introductory speech
This time the Administrator Mr. Edward Mukiibi was very proud that he had a "daughter" to speak on his behalf. Naster, one of the older girls at LCH was the speaker of the day. In her speech, she welcomed all the parents, children and other invited guests to the function. She also thanked everyone who is lending a hand to help the needy, vulnerable children of Uganda. She also emphasized to the visitors that the life they live today is much better compared to the life they used to live which was full of suffering.
Presentation
All the children both LCH children and TGN project children had a number of activities planned to present but due to time constraints, LCH presented 3 numbers and TGN project children had only one number. All presentations were really interesting.
