June 2010 Report

Introduction

This is our seventh report of the sixth year of our operation. We thank God who has done all this through people like you and me. Although the year is running very fast, we are optimistic that all the programs and plans set forth for this year shall be realized.

We continue to thank God for all of you and what you continue to do for Lulwanda Children’s Home. May He continue to bless you and protect you in his service.

Children

The Children are growing and the girls are much bigger and very strong. They do participate in the home activities and know how to take care of themselves, their friends and their environment. The boys are also picking up and doing well.

School

Effort is being made to teach all our children holistically so that they can be able to compete at all levels and in every activity. We do thank God that so far in what ever activity they participate into, they do it with a lot of stamina and enthusiasm.

P7 Candidate registration

After a long process for acquiring the registration from the ministry, it could not be achieved in time, the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) instructed the District UNEB coordinator to register the children at the nearest  registered school.

Music Dance and Drama

The School children are being prepared to participate in the Sub county interschool Music Dance and Drama competition.

Primary School Games

The Children shall also be participating in Foot ball and Net ball competition in the coming month. Thus there is a lot of activities currently going on at the school and the home in preparation for the different activities.

Intern Teachers

The School is also hosting 10 female student teachers from Nyondo Primary Teachers College. They are here for a one month teaching practice.

Medical Clinic

The Clinic is serving the children and some staff. Among the staff are those who need complex drugs which based on the clinic grade can not be prescribed here. These are regularly encouraged to go the clinic in town for possible assistance.

Outreach programs

There is need to support the Eastern Presbytery ministry through provision of regular medical out reaches to some community churches under our clinic name. This however requires some support if we are to regularly reach out to those churches and ensure that our people receive the necessary medical attention for their well being.

Through Busiu, Health centre 4, the clinic is offering immunization services to the community every 3rd and 4th Mondays’ of every month. The number of beneficiaries every immunization day is growing and the community has appreciated the service.

Treatment of Children and Staff

Clinical officer Pam and Nurse Getu have continued to offer themselves for the good of the children and staff as they continue to do their best to serve.

Participation in Church planting Medical outreach

Pam has participated in the Church planting medical mission teams and we exploring how through the clinic we can arrange regular medical outreaches to some of our community churches.

Farm Work

The Rain has subdued and we are now looking for a tractor to start preparing the land for the second season farming. The Cows, goats, pigs and chicken are all doing well and greatly beneficial to the home.

Construction

Water works

Laying of the new water pipe line delayed because it was to pass through people’s gardens which had many crops. The harvest has begun and we are soon to embark on this work.

Bathroom repairs

Work on the bathroom has been started on a pilot basis to particularly take care of the big girls and boys at home.

Solar panel Installation

These have been installed and we believe that they are working perfectly well. Thank you brethren for the effort to make Lulwanda Children’s Home sustainable.

Audit 2009

The Audit 2009 was done and we are to set a day and time for its presentation.
